Top 10 Ways To Spark Creativity
Creativity acts much like a muscle. The more you exercise your creativity, the more it grows. The creative mind must be stretched, pushed beyond its comfort zone, and yes, sometimes allowed to not be entertained. In order to spark creativity, often we have to unplug and get in touch with the creative juices that need to flow.
We’ve compiled the ten best ways to get those creative juices flowing.
Spark Your Creativity With These Simple Tips
1. Have an Open Mind
Just like the kids, get with a group and learn collaboratively. When you connect with a group of people, you can learn from others and give yourself a creative boost. Talk through innovations and problem-solve together. It’s like brain food.
2. Do What You Love
Make time for the activities you love. When you are doing what you love, stress is decreased, and you are able to lose yourself in your activity. More creativity is born.
3. Simply, Relax
Just do nothing. That’s right. Sit and do nothing. Sometimes our best ideas come from doing nothing and letting our minds wander.
4. Get Moving
Take a walk, go for a swim or a bike ride. Any form of exercise will get the oxygen flowing to your brain, which will allow room for creativity.
5. Switch up Your Environment
Change your surroundings. Even moving from inside to outdoors does the trick. This is the idea behind the retreat. Leaving the area and going somewhere else will get the juices flowing.

6. Get a New Perspective
Try a new idea and go out on a limb with it. Step out of the box, so to speak. It’s a good idea to push yourself beyond your boundaries. This gives you an opportunity to stretch and grow.
7. Document New Concepts
Write down new ideas that come to you even if you don’t follow through with them. Keep a journal of your daily thoughts.
8. Pattern Recognition
Practice pattern recognition. Being able to recognize patterns in nature, man-made objects, and other things you observe will help spark creativity because you are teaching yourself to be in the moment and notice things that maybe you didn’t take time to notice before.
9. Have Fun With Music
Play a musical instrument. Any amount of time you can put into learning or playing a musical instrument will enhance the section of your brain that also boosts creativity.
10. Bring Out Your Inner Artist
Practice drawing or photography. With mobile phones, it is so easy to take nice photos. Practice using your eyes to spot nice photo ops of relatives, nature, and cityscapes with your phone or with a camera. This will surely spark creativity. Drawing simple pictures or even coloring will help spark creativity as well.
As people, we all were meant to be creative in some way. It just takes a little practice and intention. Find a hobby that might stimulate your creative juices. Stroll through a craft or hobby store and look around even if you don’t think you are that creative. If you take some time to wander around and look at various projects, more often than not, there is something you may enjoy doing.
You don’t have to become a famous artist or designer to be creative. Everyone can be creative in some way. Look back over the list above and see if there is one thing you can do to get your creative juices flowing. Or maybe the list sparked some new ideas to help you get in touch with your creative side.
Whatever the case, whether it be a new hobby, or playing a musical instrument, creativity is something our brains crave in order to help us grow and develop as human beings.
Think about children for a moment. They are much more creative when they are playing together and not sitting in front of a television. They figure out things to build, play, and create when they are not distracted by a screen. As adults, we need to get back in touch with those inner feelings of creativity.
